Other Work

From logo & brand design, to embroidery, to doodles, and creative challenges, here you can find some smaller creative projects I have worked on. To stay updated on current projects, and see what else I’m up to creatively, check me out on Instagram (@samherman0003)!

Foresight Partners Consulting

Foresight Partners Consulting is an organization that works to build society’s capacity to proactively address the effects of a changing climate. Foresight specializes in comprehensive community planning for climate change, hazard mitigation planning, philanthropic program strategy development, and portfolio review.

Foresight asked me to create their first ever custom logo in time to have a professional look for an official launch of their business. It was important they have a responsive logo to maintain a cohesive and recognizable identity in a variety of materials, so we opted for 4 variations each with less and less information to allow legibility at any size.

Foresight asked that along with a logo, I curate a brand color palette for them. The primary requests were for a simple color palette, to not use green since it is often overused in the environmental industry (I agreed this made it more likely to stand out among competitors), and to not make it feel too corporate. With these parameters in mind, I chose a monochromatic palette of soft, earthy blues. Blue can often be seen as a very corporate color, but by choosing muted tones, it not only created a calmer, and more welcoming mood, but paired with a leaf logo, that doubles as an F for Foresight, still says “we’re focused on helping you help better the planet”.

Illustration

While I will sometimes sketch on paper, my current preferred medium for illustrations is Procreate on my iPad.

Wedding Materials

I was fortunate enough to be asked to create various print materials as well as hand-written signage for this wedding. This was a second wedding for both Eric & Beth, held at a botanical garden, and was a casual garden party without many of the traditional wedding standards.

Embroidery

I tend to find interest in many hobbies, but during COVID shut-downs I discovered embroidery. I found it fairly easy to pick up and fell in love with it! At some point everyone I give a gift to will get some embroidery from me if they haven’t already!
